Chalet Eiger luxury accommodation is member of "Slow Food" movement and has a strong commitment to environmentally friendly sustainable practice

Dear friends of Chalet Eiger,

We can't believe it ourselves but we are allready in our 5th year of operating our beautiful Lodge Chalet Eiger. In the beginning we were full of expectation and curiosity - would we manage to be the good hosts we wanted to be to our international and domestic guests? Well, we think our apprenticeship is well and truly over, but we are still in the process of becoming professionals! In the accommodation business you deal with people and everybody is different. This fact is enriching our life tremendously.

 New website

Our window to the world has to be cleaned and polished from time to time. New techniques appear ensuring that we don't rest on our laurels. So we asked our web design specialists to develop something new and unique in the accommodation business. After many months of hard work, creative brainstorms and discussions our new baby is born.

Please visit our website www.chaleteiger.com and we would, of course, appreciate all comments and especially criticisms (they are very constructive). We see the Internet world from one particular angle and you our guests and travel operators see it from different one.

Poor Knight Island

Last March we took a few days break and we went North of Whangarei where Emil was diving at this famous “best sub-tropical diving in the world”. The steep cliffs, which fringe the islands, plunge 100 metres below sea level in places before reaching a sandy seafloor. The arches are some of the most interesting places to explore. A rich nutrient soup is washed through them, feeding the countless animals that compete for space on the walls. Squadrons of stingrays can also be found cruising the waters of the archways during warmer months. Many of the subtropical fishes living in the marine reserve are found nowhere else in New Zealand, having found their way to Poor Knights on the subtropical East Auckland current.
Some of the fish include subtropical species such as spotted black groper, mosaic moray and Lord Howe coralfish. They are renowned for their friendly nature and make visiting the marine reserve a truly memorable experience.

 New Season

We are looking forward now to our fifth season and after such exciting break at Poor Knight Island we are ready and prepared to welcome many distinguished guests from all over the world. The bookings for the next season are quite slow but we very much hope that the "Swine flu" and the economic downturn will not affect the desire to travel and explore nature and people - especially in this beautiful part of the world - our paradise New Zealand.

See you soon at Chalet Eiger
